Coffee VS Tea, which is more healthy?

There are people who choose to drink tea instead of coffee because it is considered unhealthy. But for lovers of black coffee, drinks it could give greater energy in the morning. Then which one is actually better, coffee or tea?


For centuries, coffee has been praised for having a refreshing and invigorating properties. Coffee stimulates the blood flow in the brain and reduce mental fatigue. This is why coffee has the ability to arouse passion in the morning.

However when you want to compare which is better between coffee and tea, then the answer depends on the type of coffee or tea drinking and how you offer it, as reported by Foxnews, Thursday (13/10/2011).

The tea generally contain antioxidants called flavonoids, these substances have been shown to help slow down or inhibit chemical reactions caused by free radicals in the body.

But for lovers of tea, the majority will want a tea with black tea concentrated color alias that is brewed with a long time. The longer the tea disebuh caffeine content then it will be higher.

To get the color black, people tend to be longer than the tea is brewing coffee. So in comparison, the coffee will be more healthy compared with black tea.

With two cups of coffee or 300 mg of caffeine per day, can improve negative moods. According to the study, drinking coffee can also reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease. Coffee drinkers have a risk of about 3 times lower affected by Parkinson's disease than non-coffee drinkers.

Research on chemical ingredients of coffee shows that a cup of coffee contains strong chemicals, a protective antioxidant that inhibits cellular damage in the body.

Oxidative damage has been associated with diabetes, arthritis and cancer. Among many other health problems, antioxidants are helpful in reducing the risk of some diseases and life cells.

Coffee also contains antioxidant flavonoids. This compound showed a protective powers against heart disease by reducing oxidation of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol). So, coffee protects against heart attacks and strokes. But coffee's benefits will be greater if you drink it with a little or even no use sugar (black coffee).

But if you drink green tea or tea that has not been fermented, it can be said to be the healthiest drink is green tea. Green tea is rich in flavenol, which will be lost when the tea is fermented.

Bottom line, if you compare the coffee and black tea, then the coffee is a healthier option. And if you compare it with green tea, then green tea is a healthier choice than coffee.
